As part of our commitment to provide excellent, up-front customer service, we are happy to provide purchase estimates over the phone – based on your description of the diamond’s characteristics. How Much Do We Pay for Diamonds?
The value of diamonds is determined by the 4 C’s: Carat, Colour, Clarity, and Cut. At Vancouver Gold, we include the customer in every step of the assessment process, so you will understand the characteristics of your diamond – and the price we pay.
While diamond prices are complex, there are two factors that set our prices:
- We pay the most. Our diamond buyer, has first-hand experience with the prices being offered by local jewellery stores for diamonds, and she consistently exceeds these offers. We encourage you to visit several diamond buyers first – and then visit us! We are confident that our prices are significantly higher.
- We pay less than appraised value. When a customer buys a new piece of jewellery, they often receive an insurance appraisal for a higher value. It isn’t a surprise, then, that used jewellery sells for less than this appraisal. We will objectively assess your gemstones, show you our pricing calculations, and make an excellent offer. For used diamonds, we offer approximately 50% of a reasonable retail price.
